Single Front Tooth Dental Implant and Gum Grafting
Dr. Alexander Lezhansky talks about using dental implants instead of a conventional bridge to create a beautiful smile.
One of the great things about dental implants is that we have created a gold standard, using a dental implant to replace just one tooth. In the past we created a bridge that crossed over the void and was secured to the adjacent teeth. With an implant we are not causing any harm to the adjacent teeth. For this reason replacing one tooth with an implant is often the best option.
Nowadays we can replace a front tooth in the highly visible esthetic zone, and it looks so natural that only the dentist can tell it is an implant. This level of care is due in part to advances in the materials and techniques we use for gum grafting. We basically shape the gum around the area of the implant, so the implant mimics a natural tooth.
